WHO AM I?
About Me:
Hi my name is Kadee Evenson (Kay-dee), and I recently donated everything in my studio apartment, broke my lease with my boyfriend, quit my job, and bought a one-way ticket to Tulum, Mexico. Now, if you knew me…I feel like this would sound like my usual behavior. But you don’t so let me quickly fill you in!
“We cannot become what we want by remaining what we are.”
I grew up in Minnesota, hopping from one small town to the next my whole childhood. Until one morning when my parents decided to randomly move away to a town about 4 hours west of where we were living. This town is basically in South Dakota, has a population of 1,125 people, and the house they wanted was over 100 years old. When they broke the news to us I was 17, about to turn 18. So they basically told me “You can either move with us…or move in with your friend.” And like any teenager who's excited to experience the real world and get out there, I chose option B.
I stayed with my friend for a few months, while dating my current boyfriend at the time, bouncing back between both of their houses. The end of the summer came quick, and my boyfriend asked me if I’d like to go on a long roadtrip with him out west with just his tiny Chevy Spark car and a tent. It was the most humbling few months of my life, and at the same time the most exciting. We stayed on mountains in Santa Barbara, slept in the unbearable heat in Arizona, froze in the woods of Yellowstone, and went for day long hikes in Utah.
After this we landed in Florida at my Grandmas house, took care of my grandpa, bought + renovated an RV, lived out of an old VW West Falia Van, went on a roadtrip up the east coast, our engine broke down in Canada, and my boyfriend got an AMAZING job opportunity that moved us out to Austin, Texas. We then got a studio apartment, tried out the 9-5 way of life, and got tired of it so quickly. Which brings us back up speed.
Sometimes I feel as if since I left home, I have lived 100 different lives but I love it. I thought I’d create a blog to document my daily life during this period of time.
I’m so excited to start blogging, writing has always been an outlet for me. Since I was little I was always pretending to write books, and I'd buy little journals and fill them with the never ending thoughts that filled my mind. I think I’m going to share on my blog:
Travel Tips + Stories
Self-Care + Self-Love Routines
Beauty + Fashion Trends
Personal Life Updates
And probably so much more! Stay tuned for a weekly blog, together let’s create a community.
Love,
Kadee
